Assignment One

Objective: To discuss the chosen material with your group members.

The primary focus is on your ability to listen and speak to each other. To ask questions. To respond. To engage in conversation.

It is not an intelligence test. Nor is it a memory test.

Assessment: You will be assessed according to your ability to communicate with your team-mates. Your communicative skills are of primary importance – not necessarily grammar. Listen and speak.

You will also have to demonstrate that you have tried to understand the material. It shouldn’t just be free-talking.

Notes: You may use notes, laptops, phones, dictionaries, anything you feel is important. If it helps your conversation, you can even show bits of video or highlight certain things from a script.

Please remember, however, that this should not detract from your communicative abilities.

If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to ask.

 Think of something that you are curious about.
 Think of something that you don’t know the answer to

    Process:
Justification (why you chose that topic)
    Key terms / background
    What your question is
Info from the material (descriptive part)
Different perspectives (scientific / linguistic / ethical / economic / societal / religious)
    What you think (normative part)
What you still don’t know / what’s missing / what you would do if you had more time (interest)
Summary related back to your original question
